been thinking,, how these wires plug into the cam,,,(real poor setup) the power supply wire came partially unplugged, when i was mounting cam,,, thats what fried it.... been thinking of butchering the tree the cam was in,,, adding a new platform 6' up,, then another 6' up,,, a total of 12' higher and get rid of all the other limbs,,, for wind... 4 things bother me where i had it mounted saturday,,
1 tree is dying,,, also limb is smaller than my wrist
2 no way of getting back to the cam if one of these wires comes loose or if power supply fries
3 the globe had cob webs inside of it and over the lens of the cam,,, may need yearly cleaning
4 will be real hard to find the birds if they are anywhere except in the nest,, they will be so close..
12' higher i think will get us a view of the eggs unless they build up the sides a lot more
Sue don't like watching me climb,,, but even she agrees,,, waiting on a crane everytime something happens,,, would drive me nuts
much less the cost..
my thought is to have junior lift me back,, i'll mount the 3 infared lights about 3' from nest,,(surely can get aimed good from that distance) mount the e's sign and stein mans perch,,move mic up under the nest,,, then let the crane go..
this way, i'm not at the cranes mercy to work on cam,, and won't need to worry that storms will blow it down

if you look at the 6th picture,, you can see what i'm talking about 1146.jpg
i just didn't know the limbs i needed to mount cam on were so small and or dying
Also if crane would be needed would the yard hold it up?..ie muddy snowy,, icey,,, might be a week or 2 wait
also on my plan,, i will mount the cam on a 3' 2x12 here on the ground and have wires attached to the 2x12 with wire staples,,, where no strain could ever be on them,, then just haul the whole works, assembled up on rope, attach to plat form,, if i screw it up ,,, not level etc,, i can be back to the cam in 10 minutes
part did not come in today,,, looks like tommorow

so my plan is to have my helper get here at 9 am,, i will climb and strip all limbs on existing cam tree,, except the ones up to 12' higher than previous platform,,,, then build the 2 platforms
hopefully by then the power supply will be here,,, and i'm in controll when the cam goes up..
i told junior i still need lift to the nest to add other stuff,,, but he didn't show up this afternoon,,,(i'm not gona pressure him) he hasn't forgot where the crane is,,,, but the good point we should be back up and running sometime tommorow the 9am start could get delayed,,, should the e's decide to hang out here longer
