I e-mailed Bob and enclosed that picture with the dealie circled. His response: >Nora.. That is the color day and IR night camera with the microphone circled... < I did write back to clarify that I understood things right, will let you know when I hear more. I know there are two cams up there and when the light fades I think the other cam comes on. I'll have it figured out for you by the weekend. Ok, this is what I found on the UStream page, so yes the one below the PTZ is the cam that has infrared. So according to that, unless Bob switches to the PTZ cam, normally it's viewed through the cam we put up in 2009 and that has the infrared. >Who operates and maintains this cam? The Raptor Resource Project (RRP) maintains the cams, of which there are two, and the feed is streamed online 24/7. Both are positioned on one of the nest’s supporting limbs about 4-5 feet above the nest. The main cam is automated and is trained on the nest. The other cam has pan-tilt-zoom capabilities (PTZ). At dark the main cam switches to infrared (invisible to the eagles) night-time view. Here is a slide show of the cam installation in fall 2009. Who does the panning, tilting, and zooming, and when does that happen? Bob Anderson, Executive Director of RRP, switches to the PTZ cam when time and weather permit, and especially when there appears to be interesting activity in the nest. He will be especially attentive when hatching begins.< Confirmation: I heard back from Bob. The one below the big one with the bubble on it IS the other cam that has infrared.
