I watched Einstein ( I assume) fish for about an hour today. He circles the coves sometimes 20 feet in the air, sometimes so low his wing tips touch the water. I've always hoped I could get a shot of him catching a fish. The afternoon sun wasn't the best for a quality photo, but it look like today might be the day I get to see him catch something. He made a few attempts, but unfortunately he was having no luck at all. After several misses and about 30 minutes of circling he adopted a new strategy. Over the past few years I've seen him on house roofs, telephone poles, the ground and of course in trees, but I've never seen him land on the metal roof of a dock until today. He would sit there watching the water and then all of the sudden he must of seen something because he jumped off the roof and swooped down to the water. He's all set to land on a fish. But then he pumps his wings and just glides over the water. As he turns around, he comes right at me as I hide behind a tree. Looking thru the camera I thought I might be the next meal. He continues around and this time comes at the fish from the other direction. He makes a stab at it, but again comes up empty. He turns around again, fly's right by me (behind the tree again) and heads back towards the nest. I guess he'd had enough fishing for the day.
